DAY 6 OF 10

Don’t Wait Till It’s Too Late

Imagine if one day, your entire life, including what you think about and do in private, gets broadcasted to everyone who knows you. How many of us have lived such a pure and blameless life that we would be comfortable with the world knowing its every detail? We shudder at the thought of being judged by those around us. We fear man’s disapproval and get insecure when others see our imperfections. Little do we realise that God’s judgement on us is more certain, true and final than any man’s opinions of us. It is the former we should be more concerned about, not the latter.

In today’s passage, God pronounces the certainty of His judgement upon Judah, describing how He will give the city into the hands of the Babylonians. We may wonder may God was so adamant about judging Judah. Could He not have given Judah another chance? Prior to this, God had already sent prophets like Jeremiah to urge Judah to repent and warn them of judgement, but to no avail. God’s reiteration of the certainty of judgement here shows forth the consistency of His character. He is slow to anger, patient in waiting for the wayward to repent, but just in exacting judgement to those who deserve it.

Sin will ultimately be judged. When Christ returns, all of us will have to stand before Him and give an account of how we have lived. Fortunately for us who have put our faith in Christ, we know that we have been saved by grace through Christ’s work on the Cross. Having said that, our salvation in Christ is not a license for us to live in any way we want. Since we know that Christ’s return and judgement is certain, we are to live godly and holy lives, looking forward to the day of His return (2 Peter 3:11-12).

Knowing the certainty of God’s judgement should quicken us to repent and to call others to repentance. Is there an area of your life that the Holy Spirit has been convicting you to repent of? Are there any secret sins or rebellious attitudes you have towards God that you need to ask for His forgiveness? Who is God calling you to share the gospel to? Do not wait till it is too late.

"God, search me and know me. Show me my rebelliousness against You and forgive my iniquities as I turn to You, so that I may run the good race and fight the good fight for You."

About this Plan

Alt Ctrl Del: Resetting Our Heartware

We live in a world with challenges, distractions and temptations. All of these can dull our spiritual senses and draw us further, rather than closer to Christ. Just as how we press “CTRL ALT DELETE” to reboot our computer from time to time, we also need to ask God to reset our heartware, refresh us spiritually and reignite our passion for Him. Journey with us through Jeremiah 32 and experience God’s heart for restoration and reconciliation with His people anew.
