Day 5: The Rewards of Hearing and Obeying:

On our final day of the How to Hear God’s Voice YouVersion plan, we’ll touch on the rewards that follow hearing and obeying God’s voice! There are two main types of reward: eternal and natural.

First, we’ll talk about the eternal fruit our obedience produces changed lives! In Acts 8:26, we see the story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch. God spoke to Philip in the middle of his doing a great work and said, “Arise and go to the desert. . . .” While this didn’t make sense to Philip at the time, he still obeyed and subsequently led the Ethiopian eunuch to Jesus! This eunuch went on to create one of Africa’s first churches.

We, just like Philip, need to be obedient to what God calls for us to do—no matter how much or little sense it makes in the moment. When we obey, God can use us as catalysts for unprecedented life change!

The other type of reward that follows hearing from and obeying God is a natural reward.

We see evidence of these natural rewards in verses like Isaiah 1:19, Matthew 6:33, 3 John 2, and Ephesians 2:10. In summation, these “natural rewards” include all of the following:

• Guidance and direction for our lives,
• Provision for family,
• Favor,
• Strength,
• Peace,
• Fulfillment and significance, and
• Purpose.

There are times God says to do something, and it may not make sense in the natural, but if you obey Him, it always makes a difference! He has the best in store for us, and there are people He has called us to impact for Him, but we must tune in to God’s voice.

I pray that this course has equipped you with everything you need to hear from God, eliminate the hindrances in your heart, and obey Him fully in what He is calling you to do. You can hear from God!
