40 Days of Prayer & Fasting

DAY 17 OF 40

Fasting + Conversation

Fasting and conversation may not be your typical ways of connecting with God but we can connect with Him in so many ways.

The Lord wants to hear from you during your fast. When you have a conversation with God, you feel close to Him because His answer reveals His nearness to you. There is an encounter with God waiting for you when you ask Him questions. In this time of fasting and drawing near to Him, draw close even with your questions and conversations with Him. Expect that He will draw near with a response. Let Him hear how you’re feeling, your emotions, what’s on your mind, what you’re contending for, and anything else that comes up in your spirit. Lean into your daily encounters with him and don’t pass up a moment to talk to Him. Leave space to hear His voice. Even if you don’t hear anything back, don’t assume He’s not listening. There is purpose in His roar just as there is purpose in His silence.

Check in with the Lord and ask Him questions about what you can be doing to please Him in your fasting. Ask Him what to believe for and let Him remind you!

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, that You speak. Thank you that I get to draw near to You in conversation. You are the God who lives, breathes and speaks to us. Draw near to me today as I encounter You through conversation. I can’t wait to hear what You have to say to me today. It is easy to hear Your voice when I am in Your presence so Holy Spirit, I invite You in. You are welcome here. No spirit but the Holy Spirit is welcome. Speak Lord, Your servant is listening.

About this Plan

40 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Fasting is a spiritual discipline that calls us to deny the desires of our flesh and fill ourselves up with God, His Word, and His presence. Over the next 40 days, we will grow in intimacy with God, position ourselves to be in His perfect will, and learn about His dunamis power in our daily personal encounters.
