Absolute Obedience

We don’t always understand obedience until we are in a place where we must act accordingly. Human nature is more about sacrificing than obedience. Two real life experiences taught me the true meaning of this scripture.
I was clearly told by God to leave my corporate job. I was at the peak of my career, had gained the favor of all my bosses and was due for a mid-year raise and my third promotion within two years of work. I was telling God, the more I earn, the more I can tithe and give. But He wanted my obedience more than my tithe (10 percent of my earnings). He wanted me to obey. It hurt very much at the beginning, but till date I eat the sweet fruit of obedience.
In the same way, God asked me to leave my studies in the United States mid- way - something I had worked extremely hard for, for many years. The pain of obedience was the real sacrifice. Again, I’m reaping the great harvest and rich rewards of obedience to God.
We don’t understand why God asks us to do some things. But we need to know He loves us more than we love ourselves, and it has to be for our good. It pained initially to obey; but I cannot fathom the life I now have, just for two calls of obedience. Calls God asked me to take - which I did not understand but obeyed while the world spited me for being foolish. It’s me, today, who enjoys the last laugh. He is never wrong!

Prayer
Lord, enable me to obey You in difficult and confusing times - times I do not understand or can make sense of - till obeying You becomes a habit. Amen.
