Called to This Generation
Jonah was a prophet who had a Word from the Lord to preach to the people of Nineveh, bring them to repentance and cause them to turn from their wicked ways. However, Jonah had other plans and fled to Tarshish. In an interesting turn of events, Jonah landed in the belly of a great fish, where he finally repented and turned to the Lord. Jonah eventually went to Nineveh and preached to the people, resulting in an overwhelming response. All the people from the King to the children, and also their animals, repented with fasting. The Lord relented from His anger and the city was saved!
Jonah was called to bring a city to repentance. Similarly, God calls us in this generation - to pray for our city, to preach and ask people to turn from their wicked ways. However, looking at the condition of the people around us, it’s easy to get discouraged, disillusioned or maybe just apathetical to the sins of the world.
Yet God wants us to engage with our neighbors, relatives and friends in love. We need to tell them the truth, make them aware of the standards of God’s righteousness. Change may take time, but like Jonah, we too will see a mighty response with people weeping, repenting and turning from their sins to embrace the living God. Let’s be obedient to God’s calling and step out.
Prayer
Dear God, grant me the boldness to speak to the people around me about Your truth, mercy and love. I believe a mighty revival in the place I live and work is not too far off. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

About this Plan
It is our prayer that it will reveal to those who don’t know Jesus Christ, that there is a Creator and Maker of this universe, the only loving and powerful God who longs for a personal relationship with every human being. We pray that these daily readings will remind us all of the great hope and abundant joy in knowing Jesus Christ, through whom we have eternal life!
