Your Identity is in Christ

Identity crisis’ is defined as a period of uncertainty and confusion, in which a person’s sense of identity becomes insecure, typically due to a change in their expected aims or role in society. It basically refers to being unsure of who you are as a person, and the purpose of you being on the earth. There have been many times in my life, when I have stopped and asked myself, “Who am I and what am I doing with my life?”
But one day, God told me that His children can never have an identity crisis. The minute we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are no longer ours. We become adopted through Jesus Christ, into the family of the Most High God and the greatest King. Our identity is no longer in ourselves. It does not come from the biological family we were born into, the awards we’ve won or the profession we are in. Our identity comes from Christ. We are children of the King and co-heirs with Jesus.
Before we were formed in our mother’s womb, He knew us. We were set apart and appointed as a prophet to nations (Jeremiah 1:5). We are made in God’s image and bought at a price. We are no longer slaves to sin. We are the righteousness of God through Jesus. We are now part of the body of Christ. A chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people (1 Peter 2:9). He has fearfully and wonderfully made us and He calls us ‘friend’. He has a good plan and purpose for us.
This is what God really thinks of you. Let His word define who you are and you will never have an identity crisis.
