True Worshippers

For many of us, worship means slow music, getting on our knees and stretching out our arms towards heaven. And that’s not wrong. But that’s hardly the definition of worship. True worshippers don’t just worship the Father with their songs or during a church service. They worship God in spirit and in truth, with everything they are and in everything they do.
Do you remember the sinful woman who came to Jesus with an alabaster box of expensive perfume? The perfume was worth more than a year’s wages, but she broke the box at the feet of Jesus and washed His feet with her tears. What a beautiful act of worship! This woman did not play a guitar or sing a beautiful hymn. Yet Jesus was so pleased with her worship that He said,“…wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.” (Mark 14:9)
God is not looking just for ‘Sunday morning worshippers’. He is seeking true worshippers; those who love Him enough to worship Him with all that they are and all that they have. The kind of worshippers who give what costs them.
Our God alone is worthy of our worship and He truly deserves our best. That’s why our gift of worship must cost us something. David said, in 2 Samuel 24:24 (ESV), “I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God which cost me nothing.” Shouldn’t we say the same?

Prayer
Father God, I want to be a true worshipper who worships You in spirit and in truth. Let all that I am and all that I do be worship unto You. Amen.
