Overcome with the Word

Jeremiah had prophesied devastation on Israel because of their disobedience to God. Now here he was, feeling dejected and persecuted on all sides. So what did he do? He went in search of the Word of God, which was the source of joy and rejoicing for his sorrowful heart. He knew that he had been called by the King of kings, the Maker of the universe. He also knew that the One who called him was his very present help in the time of trouble. God alone had the words to encourage and lift him up.
When Jeremiah took hold of God’s Word, his dejection was turned into rejoicing! So also, when we are faced with adversities, we must take hold of the Word of God. God will indeed speak to us through His Word.
Don’t just read your Bible and forget about what it says. Meditate on those words, chew them, digest them into your spirit, and in due time, you will see your muscles of faith develop. After all, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
Today, if you are feeling sick, incompetent, weak, inadequate, broke or worthless, you need to know that the Word of God says none of that is true. You are healed by the stripes of Jesus. He made you more than a conqueror and He supplies your every need. Ponder on this, because Jesus has already won the battle. It’s time for you to claim your victory.

Prayer
Father, help me run this race called life, knowing that every promise in Your Word is ‘yes’ and ‘amen’ in Jesus Christ. Let Your Word be a source of joy, encouragement, motivation and rejoicing to me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
