Precious Moments That Count For EternitySample
Empowered by His Grace
Have you felt guilty about something that you did or said? That feeling can be so strong that you feel there is no way of escaping the punishment for it.
In John 8:1-12, we read of the adulteress caught red-handed and brought before Jesus by the accusers. The only expected verdict was death by stoning, as per the law. But when her case was opened before Jesus, He silenced the accusers by saying that only a sinless person could throw the first stone, thus revealing that everyone has sinned (Romans 3:23) and that they need God to save them (Mark 2:10).
When every accuser stepped back, He too did not condemn her. She was free to go. Jesus did not question her guilt, nor did He condone it. He knew, and she knew too, that she had sinned. His call for her was to change. Only Jesus could offer her that power to change. Her job was to respond to the saving grace, which freed her from the guilt and the power to sin.
People who have responded to this call, too, can fall in this trap of guilt. Satan (the accuser) always sends people on guilt trips. A guilty heart keeps reminding us of punishment, while a grace-conscious heart paves the path to restoration. That is when we should remind ourselves and the enemy that God has forgiven us and no one else can declare us guilty. Beloved, start seeing yourselves as God sees you – cleansed by the blood of Christ. That doesn’t mean that our flaws don’t matter to God, but His grace is enough for us to overcome them. It is not us but He who is well able to transform us from glory to glory!
Declaration
I am forgiven and I am the righteousness of God in Christ. No lies of the enemy have a hold over my life as I choose to cling on to His saving Grace, which is changing me from glory to glory!
