It is Not in Me!

Pharaoh, the king of Egypt dreamt something dreadful. He got desperate about wanting his dream interpreted. None of the wise men in his kingdom could help him, which really upset Pharaoh. It was at that time that he was told about Joseph, a prisoner, ‘who alone could interpret his dream’. After a long term of imprisonment, when he stood before Pharaoh, Joseph said, “It is not in me. God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace”, revealing Joseph’s humility.
God gives grace to the humble and His grace is sufficient for them. Joseph was lifted up later on to rule the whole of Egypt, only because he humbled himself.
Another time, when the king of Babylon looked at his royal palace and said, “Is not this, great Babylon that I have built…” And before he could complete his statement, God took away his kingdom. His dwelling was with the beasts of the field, he ate grass like oxen, his body was covered with dew and his hair grew like eagle’s feathers. Destruction follows pride!
‘I’, a single tiny letter, creates big and infinite problems on this earth. ‘Ego’ is nothing but the prioritized ‘I’ in us. Ego means ‘Edging God Out’. When we start thinking that things happen because of us, that’s when pride sets in. Pride is one of the few things God hates. The Bible says, ‘God opposes the proud.’
When we do something well, Satan immediately tells us, “It was all you.” We need to oppose and crush him saying, "It is not in me. It is because of my Lord.” Pharaoh found the Spirit of God in Joseph. People around can see the amazing, awesome, mighty God in us when we too say, like Joseph, “It is not in me.”

Prayer
Lord, I can do nothing without You. For all that happens in my life, give me a humble heart to say, ‘It is not in me.’ Amen.
