Precious Moments That Count For EternitySample
The Lord is My Helper
A number of times, in the Bible, God asks us to trust in Him, depend upon Him and run to Him for help. The Lord assures us saying, “I will help you.” In times of need and difficulty, do we turn to God in prayer or do we run to people – our pastors, parents or friends?
King Jehoshaphat was faced with a situation where the people of Moab and Ammon were going to attack him and the people of Judah (2 Chronicles 20:1-3). He cried out to God for help and fasted. And the Lord delivered him from his enemies. The Lord also gave him an unlikely strategy for victory – placing the singers and musicians ahead of the army. Another king of Israel, King Ahaziah, instead of seeking the Lord, went and sought after other gods when he wanted to know if he would survive an accident (2 Kings 1:1-4).The Lord was displeased with him and he succumbed to his injuries.
Today, the Lord asks us to put our trust in Him and not in man. Our battles and our struggles belong to Him and if we are willing to surrender ourselves completely to Him, and trust Him in any situation, we will surely have the victory. The psalmist says, “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:2).
Prayer
Lord, I thank You that I can run to You in times of trouble, knowing that You are my refuge and an ever present help in time of need. Help me to trust You in the difficult situations in my life. Amen.
