Satan’s Lies; God’s Truth: Lie #1--You Are Worthless
Everybody I know suffers from depression to some degree. Some feel blue now and then, some are depressed a lot, and the rest are pretty much on suicide watch all the time. Everybody has to struggle with the feeling of being worthless. At the core of that miserable state is the conviction that nobody loves you, that nobody cares. That feeling is one of Satan’s lies--he’s trying to rob you of the comfort of knowing that God created you and of the security of knowing that Christ has rescued you.
Here’s the truth of the matter: you are personally and individually valuable to God. The Bible tells you the truth about God. The Father personally designed and created you in his image. The Son thought you worth dying for. Indeed-your rescue from sin and death was so expensive that it cost Christ his life. The Spirit was poured into you to ignite faith in your cold heart.
In Isaiah 43:1,3,4 God sends you an expensive love letter. He tells you, “'Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. . . . I am the LORD, your God . . . your Savior . . . you are precious and honored in my sight . . . I love you.'”
Take that, Satan! I am somebody! I am valuable to my God! Begone!
