Satan’s Lies; God’s Truth: Lie #4--You Are Good Enough for God
Everybody wants to feel good about himself or herself. Ah, but Satan, who is trying to destroy you, manipulates this desire and lies to you. We all want to know the answer to a crucial question: Does God like me? Am I good enough for Him?
Satan will push you into one of two directions: one is misery and depression as you realize in shame that you are no good at all (see Lie #1). Or he’ll do the flip side and flatter you into thinking that you are doing great. You can boost your spiritual self-esteem by comparing yourself to other sinful fools lower down the food chain. You can make excuses to wiggle out of almost any responsibility. You can blame other people. You can minimize your little “woopses.” You can redefine the rules and lower the bar enough so that you can step over it.
Here’s the truth: the Bible says in Romans 3:10-12, “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away.” But God has the answer you need. Here’s more truth from Romans 3:23,24: though “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” all “are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”
