Advent in Exile - Christmas Longing With IsaiahSample
I recently visited some friends in the Midwest. As I spent several days with them, I saw first hand that they were preparing for “The Fall”. They had a food storage and were freeze-drying and canning meat, vegetables and fruit to last for several years. It was quite a process. They had ammunition stored and also were stocking up on essential items.
At first, I felt unprepared, like I should be doing this also. I felt guilty for not being fearful.
As I read this passage, I realized that I am not fearful because I have a God who promises to take care of me.
The passage goes on to say those who rage war against me will be nothing, that I am held in His right hand and that I am not to fear because He is with me.
God says that He takes hold of my hand.
As a preschool teacher, so many times I have witnessed my kiddos holding their parent’s hand as they safely walk alongside them. I realized I am not fearful because God, the creator of the universe, has chosen me, to be His. So I have NOTHING to fear.

Join us for the next 35 days as we discover the Christmas longing the prophet Isaiah felt as he waited for the Messiah to be born. Prepare your hearts, in expectation, anticipation, and gratitude for the coming of Christ, just as the Israelites who were in exile did years ago! This reading plan celebrates the season of advent and was designed to start the Sunday after Thanksgiving
