God's Beloved Community: A 5-Day Reading Plan for KidsSample
Day Three: God’s Colorful Creation
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”—Psalm 19:1, niv
God birthed a creation full of delight
diverse in every way….
Devotion
God knew the world would be really boring if everything he created looked and sounded and smelled alike. So, he made a LOT of different colors, shapes, sounds, and smells to enjoy. He also made a LOT of different people! Did you know that you show God’s creativity too? You might have the same hair color as your best friend. But do you have the same favorite color? The same way of walking or talking? Do you always like to play the same games or read the same books? No one in the world is just like you. It’s fun to celebrate the ways God made us different!
Prayer
Dear God,
Thank you for creating such a colorful and diverse world. You’re amazing! And thank you that you created me and that I am one of a kind.
Amen.
Activity
Get some old magazines or newspapers (or ask for help printing pictures from the computer!). Cut out pictures of God’s creation that show lots of different colors—like rainbows, flamingos, sunsets, green fields, and red roses! Glue them to a paper and make a Creation Collage. Why do you think God made the world so colorful?
