5 Ways to Care for Your SoulSample
Give Yourself Grace
Few people are harder on us than we are on ourselves. We play tracks in our minds of what we should have done differently, what we could have said, what we think we should get done. We beat ourselves up for unfinished to-do lists and worry that we are not close enough to God.
Sometimes we need all that internal noise to stop. We need to let go of the shoulds and the what-ifs. We need to stop spinning the stories of our inadequacies and failures. We need to be quiet inside.
For a long time, I didn't know how. I was great at all the soul noise. I had mental conversations declaring all the ways I didn't measure up and the ways I was just too much. I made it all about me.
But then I started to discover something that changed everything.
Instead of making it all about me, what if I made it all about God's grace?
When we make it about grace, we make it about God.
It is in our weakness, our humanity, that we experience the fullness of God's grace. "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Grace isn't something you can mess up. It is a gift. Given simply because God loves you. Choosing to accept the fullness of that gift is the greatest thing you can do for your soul.
