5 Ways to Care for Your SoulSample
Make Time for People
When life is busy it's easy to find ourselves around people without actually engaging with them. We may have a meal or drive someone to practice, but we miss the chance to connect. This connection isn't just crucial for a relationship, it's important for your soul.
Scripture is clear about how important it is to be with others. Not only does the Word tell us to be around people, it tells us how and why.
- We need to be around others to give and receive encouragement. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
- We need the fellowship we experience with others. (1 John 1:3)
- Working with another gives a greater reward. (Ecclesiastes 4:9)
- Having other people makes us stronger when facing hardship. (Ecclesiastes 4:12)
- We sharpen one another. (Proverbs 27:17)
The list goes on and on, making the benefits and importance of time with people clear throughout Scripture. With so much emphasis on this, we must take it to heart especially since it can make such a difference.
How do we do this?
Start with one thing. Spend a few minutes outside with your kids. Take a walk after dinner with your spouse or a friend. Call someone you haven't talked to recently.
Engaging with other people, especially believers brings joy, peace, and strength for your soul.
