Flip the Switch: Finding God's PeaceSample
When you think of peace, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?
Often times, when we think about peace, we think of it as the absence of troubles or conflict. In reality, peace is a state of mind that does not rely on outside circumstances. When we’re accustomed to conflict and trouble, the promised peace of God is something desirable, but also something that we can’t even begin to imagine.
“How can I experience everlasting peace when everything is going wrong?”
“I have too many flaws.”
“I’ve failed too many times.”
We read the Bible, but we tell ourselves lies, selling ourselves on why it won’t work for us.
Peace sounds great, but is it applicable to MY life?
Can I experience the peace that Jesus talked about?
Can MY life be a life of peace, or am I too far gone?
Am I too broken?
Am I too flawed?
What if we stopped listening to the lies of the enemy so that we could hear the truth of the Lord? What if we could just live peacefully?
The world is plagued with anxiety. The enemy has done a great job of robbing peace from the children of God.
Jesus, however, is The Prince of Peace.
He reigns over peace. His kingdom is a kingdom of peace. This hasn’t changed. We just get lost within the noise. So, what’s playing in your background?
When Peter was called forth to step out of the boat and walk on the water to join Jesus, he had faith. He listened to what Jesus asked of him. It was after stepping out onto the water, however, that Peter was distracted and overcome with fear. He looked at the waves, he took notice of the high winds, and he began to sink. He allowed the distractions to steal his peace.
We have to turn down the volume on these distractions, which only seek to throw us off course and to get lost in the disarray. Instead, we must turn up the volume of the Word of God. His Word is power and truth that we can cling to for our lives.
In times of distraction, uncertainty, and anxiety, we need to open up our Bible.
Only then, when we trust him at His word, will we be able to take on the day with a peaceful mindset.
