DAY 18 OF 20

We live in the age of personality tests. Some tests are, Enneagram, Myers Brigg, Strengths Finder, Type A or Type B personality, and the classic question, are you an introvert or extrovert? We like these tests because understanding what you need to recharge is important. No matter your personality type, the spiritual habits of stillness and solitude can be grounding when nothing seems to be going your way.

In Mark, Jesus practices self-care habits. The Bible says Jesus retreated multiple times to quiet places away from people to sit and be with God. If Jesus needed to retreat, how much more should we? Time spent with God gives us room to think about people we can reach out to and consider how God is reaching out to us. Jesus spent time in solitude and prayer before he chose the disciples and went to the cross. Let's follow his example of retreating to be with God, especially when facing big decisions.

When was the last time you sat in a quiet space and listened to God? Consider taking a few minutes alone to hear what God says today.

Focus

It’s not easy to stay focused. Especially these days, when we’re connected to a never-ending stream of new notifications, ads, messages, videos, and posts. Have you ever struggled to stay focused when spending time with God? In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we’ll get honest about how difficult it can be to stay focused when praying, reading the Bible, or growing in our faith.
