When we feel lonely, it's easy to think that filling our time and space with things will help us out. Some have called it retail therapy or simply distracting yourself, so you don't feel so alone anymore. Jesus lived a life not full of possessions but full of promise — even when all hope seemed lost, Jesus was still fulfilling God's promises.
The journey to the cross is an incredible story. As Jesus is nailed to the cross, he yells at the top of his lungs, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" He felt completely alone, without hope. Have you ever felt alone? The most profound thing about this particular story is that because Jesus took our place on the cross, we never have to feel alone to this extent. God promises that we'll never be left alone. Jesus is always with us.
Maybe you're struggling with loneliness. What truths can you remember when you feel alone?

About this Plan

It wouldn’t be Christmas without angels! You’ll find them everywhere this Christmas season. They’re on Christmas trees, ornaments, greeting cards, carols, movies, and nativity sets. They’re all over the pages of Scripture, too. That’s because angels played an important role in the very first Christmas. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we’ll discover why angels were and still are so important in the Christmas story.
