DAY 6 OF 6

The Helmet Of Salvation

Last but not least, we have the Helmet of Salvation. Reading through this list reminds me how important putting on the Helmet of Salvation is.

See, when you’re under attack in a battle and your head is unprotected, it can lead to instant death. Likewise, when your mind is unprotected and you forget the gravity of what your salvation actually means, it can result in instant spiritual death. This isn’t spiritual death in the sense of losing your salvation, because we know once we’ve accepted Christ we are saved for eternity. But an instant spiritual death brought about by sin can mean feeling far from God or falling back into an old temptation or habit where you end up consumed by shame and too afraid to face Him.

When have you felt that way?

It feels like a death to your hope, joy, and confidence, but repentance will bring all those things back and re-create a nearness that will be as sweet as honeysuckle. Equip your mind with the security of the deliverance of your soul by placing the Helmet of Salvation on your head and getting ready for battle.

I make sure to put the helmet on last so my mind is equipped for what the Lord has for me that day. I personally do this by worshipping, prayer journaling, and listening to the Bible to get a deeper gratitude for who God is and who He has called me to be.

To keep that helmet on tight, thank God for His salvation. Name specific things He has saved you from and prayers He has answered for you. If you can’t think of any prayers God has answered, sister, start asking more! He is ready to help you.

You will be equipped for dating (or anything else for that matter!) when you put on the full armor of God. BooBoo Dudes try to get under your armor and make you feel a need for their salvation, but healthy guys put on their armor right along with you and help you trust in God’s salvation.

So here’s the recap: You’ve strapped on the Breastplate of Righteousness to protect your heart, the Shield of Faith to put out Satan’s flaming arrows, and the Sword of the Spirit to slash down Satan’s lies. You’ve put the Sandals of the Gospel of Peace on your feet and tightened the Belt of Truth around your waist, and now you’ve got the Helmet of Salvation firmly on your head.

Tomorrow morning when you’re getting ready, think of these things as you get dressed. Think of yourself as a warrior because you’ll be officially prepared! You are the David to the enemy’s Goliath and, friend, YOU GOT THIS! You are ready! You are a warrior! You will do incredible things! Armor up and get out there!

Lord, I am putting on every piece of Your armor. With Your salvation protecting my mind, I am ready to enter the battle against Satan and sin! Please make me strong for the fight.
