Kingdom Husband

Ephesians 5: 23-25 ~ "For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now, as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,"

In this study, we are defining Kingdom business, or as Jesus said in Luke 2:49, "And he said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"

So today, we are focusing on being a Kingdom Husband. That my brothers have a higher calling as anyone can get married. But to be a Kingdom husband is different. What makes us different? Well, not only are we to lead our wives as a holy example of Jesus, but we are also to love our wives as Christ loved and sacrificed the church.

Some men may read the first part and beat their chest like, my wife better have my dinner ready when I get home. But when we read, "As Christ is the head of the church, that should make us very humble, as we are called to a place of servant leadership when it comes to leading our wives. Men, you don't just get respect because you are a man; you need to earn that respect by being a Kingdom Man. A man who strives to be like Jesus puts others first, spends time in the Word, prayer, and seeks wisdom and Godly counsel. Well, so much for beating our chests.

It doesn't get any easier when you see that we are called to love our wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. WOW!

How in the world can we even get close to that? Plain and simple...we can't. But with the power of the Holy Spirit, we are meant never to stop trying to be that. A man constantly pursuing Jesus will love his wife, just as scripture says.

If you think our calling is hard, step back two verses and read that not only is your wife called to be more like Christ, she is to submit to you. Men, I'd wager we are not always easy to submit.

I challenge us all to put down the remote and pick up the mantle of being a Kingdom Husband. Love your wife as Jesus loves the church by being more like Christ. A tall order, but a calling nonetheless.
