Identity in Christ: A 40 Day JourneySample
Part 4: Truths about my purpose
Day 31: I have purpose in prayer
When Jesus was alive on this earth, we know He often withdrew to places to be alone with God and pray. If Jesus Himself needed to pray, how much more do we! Prayer not only gives us strength and is a source of connection with God; prayer is how we are to begin every work we do for God. We are to seek His wisdom in prayer, fellowship in love, intercede for others, and ask for resources – there is nothing in this world we should do without prayer; it is work we can do anywhere and at any time. We have a purpose when we commit to a prayerful life.
Let's Pray
Jesus, thank You for sharing Your will with me: You want me to pray without ceasing and give thanks in everything. Thank You that I have purpose in prayer: I know that you desire that I pray regularly to You, to seek You and lift my concerns to You. I repent for not believing that I have a purpose in prayer and for believing that You don’t hear my prayers. I choose to believe that this is what You want me to do, and I choose to want what You want for me. Please renew my mind so that I believe more and more that I have been designed to pray and that You want me to pray. Amen.
About this Plan
Knowing our identity in Christ - knowing who He says we are to Him - is one of the most powerful ways to enable ourselves to draw closer to God. Knowing our true identity is part of our roadmap to sanctification. We realise how free we truly are and how much He wants to lavish His love on us and fill our lives with purpose and meaning.
