Through the Bible: 2 Corinthians

DAY 3 OF 3

Greatness vs. Weakness

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (ESV)

In 2 Corinthians 10-13, Paul told the people that he endured pain and hardship to teach God’s words. Though he may not be as eloquent and prestigious as other religious leaders, the God he preached about is all-powerful in many ways.

When the world applauds greatness in men, God uplifts the weak. When personal victory leads to an egotistic culture, God encourages us to accept our weaknesses, endure suffering and transform them into Christ’s goodness through love and patience. Indeed, many of us came to Christ as we realised our own weaknesses (physical and/or spiritual). God makes us perfect as He leads us to redemption, from a prideful, destructive lifestyle to a peaceful and fruitful one.

Prayer

Father God, we thank You for Your sufficient grace that we no longer feel inferior for our weaknesses. We can seek You for deliverance and transformation. It’s in our suffering we see Your glory. Let us not walk life alone but with You, from today and forevermore. Amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: 2 Corinthians

Despite the first letter to the Corinthians, the farce within the church continued to worsen. Most scholars believed that Apostle Paul, who founded the church, had attempted to revisit but faced many setbacks from the ringleaders who challenged his authority. When the situation improved, Paul sent this second tearful letter to defend his ministry and deal with the rebels. Every ministry leader will resonate with Paul’s words in this letter.
