What Is a Disciple?

Do you remember the first time you hung out with your best friend? You didn’t know what it was going to be like, but you probably wanted to go. It turned out to be awesome. Now, they’re one of your favorite people—the person you tell everything to—and you can’t imagine your life without them. 

Did you know Jesus had close friends like this? He asked them to follow Him. Like, literally. He actually told them to quit what they were doing. Some were fishing, some were hanging out with family, others were alone—but all had to stop and follow Him. Listening to Jesus turned out to be the best decision of their lives. They got to hang out with Him. They were friends with Him. He shared His life with them, and they were never the same. 

These guys were called disciples of Jesus. A disciple is someone who follows Jesus and tells others about Him. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.
