DISCIPLINE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15
As a child I always wanted to be a superhero. The Hulk, Spider-Man, Superman and Batman were my favorites. The strength of the Hulk, the agility of Spider-Man and the amazing powers of Superman. Hulk and Spider-Man's abilities came accidentally. Superman was actually born an extra-terrestrial being from a faraway planet, but Batman was different from the rest.
Bruce Wayne was an ordinary man that utilized the wealth of his family to help him become the “Batman”. He trained hard, learning combat techniques and weapons tactics, becoming technically savvy among many other disciplines he mastered. Batman quickly became my favorite, because I saw him as someone I could also become through discipline and hard work.
As an adult I no longer want to be a superhero but I do desire to be like Jesus, my personal “superhero”. By studying the word of God and removing myself from the things of this world. I gain spiritual power. That allows me to overcome my flesh, the ills of the world and the enemy. Daily discipline moves me along on the path to discipleship.
The goal is to navigate this world in the way that my Master Jesus did. The sacrifices I make in the flesh are no comparison to the one that Jesus made on the cross. Although I can never be Jesus, I strive to be like him each day. I reach forward for the goal of the prize through discipline, the study of the word of God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
