I THINK THEREFORE I AM
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so he:” Proverbs 23:7 NKJV
The thoughts of a man create his reality. What that reality is, is solely up to him. I live in a city where there is constant construction occurring, just about everywhere you turn. Old things are being torn down and new things are being built up. From townhomes to high-rise buildings. Boutiques to shopping centers. Playgrounds to theme parks. There is a common theme between all these things. Each started as a thought in someone’s mind; or put differently – a vision that became a reality due to hard work and dedication.
There is a flip side to this coin. A man without purposeful focus or control of his thoughts will inevitably live a life of chaos and destruction. Along the same city streets where I see construction, I can also see poverty, crime, drug addiction and misfortune, all due to the lack of self-control, and wrong and limited thinking.
As believers of the word of God we must have the mind of Christ. Having the mind of Christ means that we understand God's plan in the world to bring glory to himself, restore creation to its original splendor and to provide salvation for sinful mankind.
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Philippines 2:5
As a believer, I choose to give up my will for the will of God. I have chosen to be a servant of the Most High God, and to do his will here on the earth. I make it a practice to align all of my thoughts with his, through the studying of his word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit; inspired by the promise of eternal life with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
