Lord, Help Me Not To...Sample

DAY 5
LORD, HELP ME NOT TO BE NEGATIVE!
I think all of us have probably met negative people before. You know, the ones that always find something at fault. “It's too this. It's too that.” They tend to catch people doing something wrong more than something right. I can usually tell if someone is negative just by looking at their social media accounts.
The truth is you find what you look for. If you’re constantly looking for the negative, you’re going to find it. If you’re constantly looking for something wrong, you’re also going to find that. BUT what if we flipped the script? What if we constantly looked for the good? Or the positive?
Can you count your blessings? If you had to pause for a moment and start thanking Jesus, what would you list? What if you made a list to God of all your complaints? Which list would be longer: what you’re thankful for or what you’re frustrated with?
Here’s an exercise you can do today if you found your complaining list longer. There are 26 letters in the alphabet; so, how can you praise God using every letter? You could start with, “God you're AMAZING. God you're BOLD. God you are CREATIVE, DELIGHTFUL, EVERLASTING, FANTASTIC.... God you are ZEALOUS.” You get the point!
It’s important to count our blessings. When we change our speech from one of complaining to one of gratitude, not only does our mindset begin to change, but we can then become a greater encouragement to the people around us!
Today, I want to encourage you to replace negativity with gratitude.
