Walking With Jesus (Ministry)Sample
Anyone can do it
Mat 4:19-20, John 21:1-7
Jesus called His two first disciples named Peter and Andrew when they were fishing. Hearing Jesus' call, they immediately rushed to leave their nets and follow Jesus.
This part often becomes a challenge for people who want to follow God. They assume that someone who wants to become a disciple of God must leave his job. Do we have to leave our worldly life or our "nets" to find God? Of course not. Jesus was not angry when Peter and Andrew returned to their profession as fishermen. Jesus was even willing to help them (John 21:6).
There are indeed people who are so involved in their profession that they forget the Lord. However, there is also a pastor who can betray God by seeking personal gain through his profession. Our daily work is God's calling for us. He is calling us to do our profession, and He demands us to do this job as a part of our ministries, worship, and testimonies. We can find God wherever we are and through whatever good we do (John 4:21-23).
Our life is our devotion to God. No good work is so secular that we cannot call it a ministry to the Lord. God also does not think that spiritual ministry is better than daily work at home. The values demanded everywhere remain the same, namely the values of the kingdom of God. We are serving the Lord when we do anything for the kingdom of God. Thus, all of us can do it and have an important role in this system of God's kingdom. Nothing is unimportant. Everything is important and it must go according to His will.
Reflection:
1. What is your profession? Have you done your profession as a form of devotion to the Lord?
2. How can you be used by God in His work for the world through your profession?
Practice: Serve the Lord! Yes, serve the Lord!
