Bible Explorer for the Young (Hebrews)

DAY 4 OF 11

Growing up Spiritually

Hebrews 5:14

But solid food is for people who have grown up. From their experience they have learned to see the difference between good and evil.

Initially, babies are only given milk. The older the babies grow, the more foods they can consume. They cannot grow well and will lack nutrients if they only take milk all the time!

This is how our spiritual being is supposed to grow as well. For example:

One-year-old babies can only listen and dance to the Christian songs they hear. They cannot stay still to listen to the Bible lesson.

Five-year-old kids will be able to sing along during praise and worship time and pay attention during the Bible Lessons.

Ten-year-old kids might be able to lead the prayer and share about God’s goodness.

Fifteen-year-old kids might be brave enough to be the worship leader in Kids Church.

As time goes by, there will be more teaching and understanding to be absorbed and more responsibility to be taken.

However, the Bible says that some people just prefer being in their comfort zone and refuse to take more teaching and responsibility. There are times we might reject new opportunities to grow up spiritually.

Let us keep growing spiritually. Feed your spirit with God’s word day by day. Pray and have a steadfast faith in God as you face a challenge in your life. Have a transformed mindset and be a faithful Christ-follower.

Prayer

Dear God, help me to be a grown-up and mature Jesus’ follower. Amen.
