A King of Righteousness

It’s day six and you’re still here. Habits are being built. Your relationship with God is growing stronger. Slowly and steadily, as you spend more and more time with Jesus you are becoming more like Him. Don’t rush past these things. Take a moment to enjoy this process you’ve begun and the ways it is changing you.

Pray…

God, thank you for being a righteous and just King. You are unlike any other king or ruler the world has ever seen. When the rest of the world chases after power and money, you chase after us. You love us and have always loved us. And I thank you for that.In Jesus name, amen.

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you. - Psalm 89:14

Consider…

The Psalmist is worshiping God because the throne He rules from is built on a foundation of righteousness and justice. What is righteousness? It’s the right way of doing things. What is justice? It’s making wrong things right. But the Psalmist doesn’t stop there, he goes on to point out that love and faithfulness always go before God.

What does it mean for God to be righteous and just? How do those qualities get expressed through the things God has said and done in Scripture? How do those qualities work together with the love and faithfulness that goes before Him?

Find a comfortable place where you won’t be distracted. Maybe a cozy chair, a closet, or even sitting outside on a porch.

Set a timer for 5-10 minutes.

Ask God to speak to you.

When you get distracted, imagine yourself kneeling before God who is seated on His throne. A throne of righteousness and justice. Think about His love and faithfulness. Let these qualities of God move from your head and pierce deep into your heart.

When the timer ends, thank God for the time you spent together and head into the rest of your day with a clearer sense of His presence.
