Becoming Like Jesus: Silence and SolitudeSample
His Love Endures Forever
We are jumping into the second week of habitually making space for God, of practicing silence and solitude. And it’s just that—a practice. So, take a deep breath. You don’t have to have this down perfectly to keep practicing. God loves you and He wants to meet with you, so keep showing up.
Here we go.
Pray…
Heavenly Father, here I am. Teach me more about who you are today. Jesus, make me more like you in these moments. Holy Spirit, please open my eyes to what you want me to see and help me to hear your voice. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever. Psalm 118:1 NIV
The Lord is my strength and my defense [song];
he has become my salvation. Psalm 118:14 NIV
Consider…
Psalms are the worship songs of the people of God. In ancient times, opening the book of Psalms was like opening Spotify and playing your favorite worship artist. The beautiful thing about worship is that it provides a special way to embody our devotion to God. When we sing, we engage with Him physically by actually producing sound, maybe lifting our hands, or getting on our knees. We engage mentally by thinking about the words we are singing. There’s an emotional impact as we experience the joy of God’s presence. And there’s a spiritual resonance when we sing the truth of who God is back to Him. We were made to worship God—to bring Him glory and enjoy His presence.
How have you thought about worship in the past? Whether it is something you have always enjoyed or not, consider how wholly engaging in it might fuel your relationship with God.
What does it mean for God’s love to endure forever? What does that mean for you, today?
What verse or descriptor of God from this song resonates with you the most? Why? Think about that throughout your day.
Listen…
Set a timer for 5-10 minutes.
Lead into your listening by praying Psalm 46:10 over yourself. “Be still and know that I am God.” Still yourself. Take some deep breaths. Keep repeating those words, dropping off one phrase at a time, until you are just reminding yourself to “Be.”
Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I AM.
Be still and know.
Be still.
Be.
Ask God to speak to you.
When you get distracted, come back to Jesus by simply saying the line from the song: “His love endures forever.”
