Pastor How to Read LukeSample
Please read the Gospel of Luke 2:17-20,
18 All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, 19 but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.
Mary had a tough journey to give birth to Jesus. And the stigma she had to endure perpetually.
But the road ahead would be even harder.
After this point, they had to flee to Egypt because Herod ordered the killing of all babies in order to thwart Messianic prophecies. So the family lived as fugitives in Egypt for over 3 years. And 33 years later, Mary would see her own son tortured and crucified before her eyes.
That is why Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.
When the road ahead is difficult, we need to keep the stories of God’s miracles and faithfulness in our hearts. And when we are battered by external circumstances, we pull these stories from our hearts and think about them.
All the miracles and victories you have experienced should be stored up as food and fuel for the journey of life. And when you are facing a tough time, you pull it out as reserves. When you experience God’s goodness and blessings, it is not just for the moment. It should not be consumed and forgotten. But it should build a foundation of unshakable faith for your future.
And when you remember the stories, you can think like this – “If God got me through that, He can surely get me through this.”
“If God got me through that crisis, hopeless situation, sickness, pandemic, etc., God surely can get me through this.” “So bring it on!"
That’s why I always write down:
- God’s promises and prophecies
- Revelations
- Miracles and Breakthroughs
- Deliverance and rescue
- Blessings and victories
- Goodness and grace
They are my ammo when I need to fight discouragement, defeats and devils.
