Pastor How to Read LukeSample
Please read the Gospel of Luke 2:15-16,
Verse 16 (NLT) - And there was the baby, lying in the manger.
Another irony of biblical proportions.
God, the Living Word, who spoke the world into existence came as a baby who could not speak.
The most powerful being in the universe just laid there as a helpless baby.
The Creator came as His creation.
He could have come as an angel or superhero or at least a great man.
He could have been born in a palace or at least a temple.
But this is who my Jesus is. And I want to be more like Him.
Philippians 2:5–11 (NLT) is one of my favorite verses. It describes Jesus.
5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form,
8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Let’s have the same attitude as Christ – humility, sacrifice and obedience.
And God will elevate and promote.
