Thoughts and PrayersSample
Prayer can feel complicated. A verse like this makes it sound like we will get whatever we ask for, but maybe you’ve experienced asking God for something and not getting it. What then? Is it possible we’re missing the point when we make prayer all about the result we want? What if, in these verses, when Jesus is telling us to ask, seek, and knock, it isn’t about the thing we want but about a persistent, deeper connection with God? What if, in the asking, seeking, and knocking, we’re changing in the process? Connection with God changes us in the best way possible.
Today, when you pray, think about what the process of seeking might be teaching you about yourself and God.
