Do You Hear Me?
Romans 10:17a
So faith comes from hearing the Good News.
When your teacher is trying to get the students’ attention in class, she will say, “Pay attention, class!” Many times, your parents also say to you, “Listen to me now.” Only when we fully listen and pay attention can we get to understand the message the other person wants to tell us.
The Bible says faith comes from hearing the Good News. When our ears receive the message of God, then faith starts to grow in our hearts. Our faith is continually strengthened as we hear and feed ourselves with the word of God.
The problem is that sometimes we only want to listen to things that are nice to hear and refuse to listen to ‘harsh’ things, like a firm reminder to stop our bad habits. This is when we need the Holy Spirit to soften our hearts.
Let us keep opening our ears to listen and focus on God’s words. The word of God is a faith builder. The more you hear it, the more encouraged in your faith you become.
Prayer
Dear God, keep my ears attentive to Your words and let me meditate on them and live in them. Amen.
