Of Whom I Am the Worst

DAY 1 OF 3

Acknowledge

We can find several definitions for this word in the dictionary. Acknowledge means to admit the existence of; to recognize. This is the first step toward thinking as Paul did in 1 Timothy 1:15.

We must recognize that we are sinners, identify those sins that may have been pebbles on the road but have now become great walls that we've built. Despite the fact that we all make mistakes, God is our measure of comparison for our own evil. We can ask for his help to eliminate our sinful desires.

One day a woman went to visit her friend's house. When she arrived, she quickly noticed the disorder in the place as the children were running around and playing. She spent the whole afternoon looking at every little thing in the house that wasn't very pleasant for her: toys on the floor, crooked pictures, dogs on furniture, etc.

When she got home, she left her slippers at the entrance of the house and went to her room, where the bed was untidy, the clothes were scattered everywhere on the floor and the laundry basket was full to the brim.

That woman had spent so many days living with the disaster that it no longer bothered her. We could even say that she didn't notice how bad it looked. However, no details escaped her when it came to judging the house of her friend.

The same happens to us. We try to examine the lives of others while neglecting our own. Recognizing that we're wrong, that we fail, and that we need God will lead us one step closer to change and peace.

Yes, we are all sinners, but I'm the first on the list. I'm the first to watch those things that I know I shouldn't. I'm the first to seek new music that doesn't praise the Lord. I'm the first to criticize my neighbor. I'm the first to visit those places that aren't best for me. I'm the first to refuse an apology.

God wants you to give him that which takes you away from him, not to condemn you, but to forgive and cleanse you.

Say this short prayer with me: Lord, help me to see the beam that is in my eye. Help me to recognize how much I need from you. Thank you for your love and for your patience with me. Please clean me. In the name of Jesus, amen.

About this Plan

Of Whom I Am the Worst

It's very easy to point out and notice the faults of others, but reviewing ourselves takes so much work. When we live comparing our way of sinning to others, we may think that we aren't so guilty. Paul understood it very...
