Seven Effective Prayers for Unsaved HusbandsSample

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

God has called men/husbands to lead their wives and children. However, he can only lead by first knowing how to be a good follower.  There can be several reasons why your husband is not following Christ to the capacity he should.  One thing to consider is the relationship that he had/has with his natural or biological father. If this relationship is broken or estranged, it can affect his ability to develop a close and trusting relationship with God, the Father. You may be asking, how is that possible?  Well, if the only father (authoritative figure and lead servant) he knew neglected or rejected him, he may struggle with trusting any other authoritative male figure or role model. This includes God. The interesting thing about this is that he may be unaware of the correlation between his biological father's relationship and his spiritual father's relationship.  Is he carrying around a father wound?  If so, that can impede his ability to lead his family.

Your husband will be able to fulfill the great commission once he faces the very things and, in some cases, people, that are keeping him in bondage to his past and preventing him from moving forward in his future.

Prayer for your husband’s ability to lead

Father in the name of Jesus, I know that you have called (say your husband’s name) to do great things in the earth.  Your word says to call those things that be not as though they were (Romans 4:17).  I call him the head of our household even though it has not manifested in the earth yet.  I know without a doubt that you have chosen him for such a time as this. The enemy wants nothing more than to discourage and discredit him from doing your will.  Lord, I pray that whatever feelings are preventing my husband from being the servant leader you want him to be that those things are revealed.  I know that he can only heal what is revealed. Although it may be discomforting for him, in the end, he will be liberated.  Set him free to forgive, love, and trust again.  Create in him a clean heart and renew your spirit within him.   In Jesus' name, Amen.
