Parenting “The Impossible Kid” With Love and GraceSample

Do you believe in miracles? Sometimes thinking about your parenting journey and following through to “completion” can feel like a miracle in progress. 

In some cases, it is. 

What do you do with a child who is so strong she thinks she can rule the world and easily rule you? If you are shouting, “Yup, that’s my kid!” then, sister, I’m sending you a hug. It can be downright scary at times.

Your child may seem impossible to you, but God chose you to be the mother of this impossible child. And what we deem impossible, God makes possible (Luke 18:27).

What if struggle is exactly what’s needed to soar? 

If you have a child with a very strong spirit, don’t be alarmed. Embrace it and be thankful, for it is that same strong nature that will enable him or her to stand up against peer pressure. It is that same strong temperament that will enable them to make wise decisions and make good choices. 

Here’s the hidden blessing: The advantage of “impossible” children is that when they stand for what they believe in, nothing can push them off their foundation. Often, with guidance and a lot of prayer, “impossible” children turn into leaders for Jesus Christ. 

Does parenting your child feel impossible? Do you feel like you’re not good enough? Not a good enough parent? Remember, “power is perfected in weakness.” 

When you don’t know what to do use that as a reminder to seek God. 

So what? If you feel inadequate as a parent, that’s okay, most parents do. Give it to God and embrace your feelings with a resolve that God will come alongside you on your parenting journey. 

Dear God, help me to embrace my child and be the mom you created me to be. Help me to lean on Your strength and wisdom. Help me to remember that not knowing what to do can be a gift to look to You.
