CounterfeitSample

Written by Emma, age 15, from Milledgeville, GA
I recently went through a break up and it was a really difficult situation. I honestly didn’t know what to expect, but I was trying to trust God’s plan, no matter the outcome. Towards the end of the relationship, I was really confused, and I didn’t understand why things happened the way they did. In some ways I questioned God, but I knew I could trust God’s promises and good could come from the break up—even when it didn’t feel like it at the time. I’m not going to say I bounced back right away, because I didn’t. I was heartbroken, but that circumstance really strengthened my faith because it reminded me that through everything God is always there. People will let us down and disappoint us, but God will never leave us even when it doesn’t seem like God is there. So, when you are going through tough times and you feel like you will never be able to recover from it, remember that God is your fortress, or safe place, and with God you can never be completely knocked down.
Today, if you are going through a difficult time, ask God to help you experience His comfort and peace.

About this Plan

We know that anything of value probably has a counterfeit version out there. The same is true for our faith. Maybe copying the behaviors of other believers was a great place to start your faith journey, but how can we move beyond copying Christians to following Jesus? How do we make our faith our own? The difference between a counterfeit faith and an authentic faith is growth and heart change.
