The Answer is Still in Jesus
This year I learned more about Jesus through the pandemic, that the answer is still in God and also that we need each other. It dawned on me that to enter this new reality, it is better to do it together as a community. That there is no one so strong or so intelligent to leave the pandemic and enter the new reality alone. To keep pace with the rapidly changing times, this transition requires a leadership with a clear vision, with total dependence on God, where flexibility, creativity, and adaptability are continually practice. I realize that the traditional model of doing the mission must change. In this new context where technology, politics, and culture are changing exponentially, the community of faith is also invited to change and adapt.
The responsibility of the church is to share the gospel and train the saints for the work of the ministry, the new context will redefine how to do the mission, in order to create a diversity of expressions. A sociological reading of the social behavior dynamics will help to define these new expressions.
The new generations seek answers to the meaning of life, to racism and multiculturalism, to gender inequality, to social justice, and they claim from the church the void that it has left in terms of the theology of creation. This could create the need for theme groups within faith communities and new settings for cross-cultural mission. In the history of the church, each paradigm has brought with it a new context, new agents of mission, new methodology, and new biblical foundations.
Moses sent twelve men to explore the promised land, the new reality in which they would live. When they returned, the report said that it was a land where milk and honey were abundant but that the cities were walled, that the inhabitants were very strong, and they could not enter. Of the twelve, two, Joshua and Caleb, trusted God. By resting in God, the righteous man gains the confidence and steadfastness that he does not have in himself. There is something that does not change and that is that the answer continues to be solely in Jesus!
