. . . to all who have loved His appearing.
2 Timothy 4:8
. . . fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of [our] faith.
Hebrews 12:2
Sunny lifted her head and twisted just slightly until she was staring straight at him. From the very beginning -- when she was a tiny little thing -- she had learned that he was her source and that she should look to him every minute of the day for growth and strength and beauty. So she did.
Even when it turned dark she knew where he would be when dawn broke, and she would turn to be ready for his appearing. Some days were gloomy and he wouldnt show up, but that was all right. She knew, without an inkling of a doubt, that he was in his place -- she just couldnt see him. And she knew with that same depth of intensity that he would be there, every day, in the same place. He was the most important thing in her life.
Sunny. A wise little sunflower who, after looking all day at the sun until his face slips below the western horizon, is not deterred by the darkness, but, knowing the promise of his coming, twists and turns expectantly to the east, waiting for his imminent arrival.
Lord, I need to learn from Sunny, dont I? To know that You are my Source of Life, and that only through You come growth and strength and beauty.
I know that. And I know just as surely that You are there -- even though its dark and I may not be able to see you -- and that You will always be in "Your place."
I say that I "know" it...but is that just information to me?
How do I act on what I know?
Well, I guess I need to "twist around" and keep looking at You -- and I need to anticipate Your return. Oh, not just when everything is ready for the finale and the final curtain call, but that moment when the curtain rises on the day -- looking to You, my Source of Life, for You are always there.
Lord, remind me to keep looking in the right direction.

About this Plan
Has your faith become more of a burden than a source of joy and rest? The Christian life is not difficult to live. It's impossible to live! God never intended for you to live it. Jesus Christ is the only one who who has ever successfully lived the Christian life, and His plan is to live it through you. We expend so much energy spinning our wheels, trying to live for God instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to live through us. In this deeply personal, encouraging devotional plan, Anabel Gillham comes alongside you to teach you how to allow Christ to express His overcoming life through you on a moment-by-moment basis. It will remind you of who you are in Christ. It will open the floodgates of God's grace, guiding you to experience true rest and freedom in the midst of the storms of life.
