Take a new grip with your tired hands, stand firm on your shaky legs and mark out a straight, smooth path for your feet so that those who follow you, though weak and lame, will not fall and hurt themselves, but become strong.
Hebrews 12:12,13 tlb
But, Lord, I'm hurting. I need direction. How in the world can I possibly mark the path for someone else when I'm going in circles myself? And it is such an awesome responsibility to think that someone following me might be weak and lame and depending on me.
Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, For I am your God. I will strengthen you, Surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you With My righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
He just reminded me that He is with me. Oh, why do I keep forgetting that? He gives me a firm grip. He enables me to stand with dignity and strength. He's holding my hand. God. Holding my hand. Incredible!
If I truly believe this---if I walk in it---then what can come into my life to cause me to flounder? I simply must think through these things.
He uses the word "surely," doesn't He? Could He be asking, "Are you telling me that you still don't understand?"; When we use "surely," it usually means that we're either exasperated at trying to convince someone of our point or utterly baffled that they didn't realize it in the first place.
All right. I accept this as Truth for me.
Therefore, I know that I can stand firm. I can mark a trail. I can be a leader for someone who might be weak and lame . . .
oh, not in my strength, but in His!

About this Plan
Has your faith become more of a burden than a source of joy and rest? The Christian life is not difficult to live. It's impossible to live! God never intended for you to live it. Jesus Christ is the only one who who has ever successfully lived the Christian life, and His plan is to live it through you. We expend so much energy spinning our wheels, trying to live for God instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to live through us. In this deeply personal, encouraging devotional plan, Anabel Gillham comes alongside you to teach you how to allow Christ to express His overcoming life through you on a moment-by-moment basis. It will remind you of who you are in Christ. It will open the floodgates of God's grace, guiding you to experience true rest and freedom in the midst of the storms of life.
