Through the Bible: Job

DAY 7 OF 10

God’s Amazing Power in Creation

These are just the beginning of all that he does, merely a whisper of his power. Who, then, can comprehend the thunder of his power?
‭‭Job‬ ‭26:14‬ ‭(NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:20‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Chapter 26 begins a long discourse of Job, which first answered the brief speech of Bildad (Job 25) and then became a speech on wisdom and a final defense, ending in Job 31.

We see Job praising God, and as he describes His awesome power in creation, we cannot help but realize how incredible God’s power is! The fact that God can spread out the heavens over empty space, hang the earth on nothing and fill the clouds with water without their bursting is just awe-inspiring! Yet, these are just the beginning of all that He does, and we can never comprehend His power and wisdom. Think about that. Think about Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.

Prayer

Father God, there is so much about You that we don’t understand - yet, You sent Jesus to reveal Yourself to us that we might know how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love is. We don’t understand the problems and pains we go through, but we know that You are in control of everything, and we trust You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Elihu rebukes them all by stressing the value in suffering instead. Finally, God speaks and assures His sovereignty amidst man’s suffering. Though the question “why” remains unanswered, Job’s repentance and restoration signify that victory over suffering will come.
