Fervent: Fight Fear With Faith Sample
Picture this – the Israelites were still in the wilderness, they hadn’t entered the famed “promised land” yet., and Moses, their leader was dead. In this bleak situation, Joshua was being asked by God to go on and fight and claim what God was giving the people. Joshua was probably nervous and unmotivated about the task God was giving him. He might have felt inadequate, ill-equipped, and irresolute. The people may have wondered if Joshua had what it took to fill Moses’ shoes. And Joshua must have felt unsure; perhaps God was making a big mistake. Yet, God affirms and assures him again and again “be strong and of good courage”. Basically, Joshua, and by extension, us, need strength for the fight ahead of us, and courage to tackle it head-on. God knows that we are both weak and fearful, but He assures us that if we trust Him, we will win. The end result has already been decided; it is our attitude in the fray that now needs to be determined.
Pray for:
• Strength to fight this battle we are in.
• Courage to face the enemy head-on.
• Trust in God’s assurance of victory and joy as we wait to win this battle.
