Fervent: Fight Fear With Faith Sample
As we begin to align ourselves with God’s sovereign will and purposes and engage the real enemy, this battle is going to get serious. We’re no longer putting out small fires. Rather, we are beginning to target the enemy and repel him. Obviously, that is going to bring pushback. And when that happens, the first strategy he will deploy to confuse, disarm, and weaken us is to make us afraid. Yet, this is the absolute steadfast assurance we have; this is the rock we hold on to when life doesn’t make sense – that the LORD our God fights for us. What does that mean? Sometimes we imagine that implies God is sitting up there somewhere and watching us muddle through somehow eventually giving us the final push when we can’t make it on our own. But that’s not true at all. When God says He fights, that means He is riding out into the battlefield with us. Actually, ahead of us. And He is meeting the full brunt of the enemy’s attack. He is striking and hitting and punching. We are not alone. He is right there fighting beside us. So let us take heart. Because we already know that this story ultimately has a happy ending!
Pray that:
• The spirit of fear will be cast out of our minds and hearts.
• The peace of God will rule our hearts instead and fill us with joy.
• We will keep our eyes fixed on our Saviour as He fights for us and with us.
