More Than a BookSample
God showed one of Jesus’ closest followers, John, a vision of what is in the future and a glimpse of what Heaven will look like. A lot of the book of Revelation is tough to understand, and some things don’t make sense. But, there is one central message throughout the whole book: Hope. We can have hope about the future, even if it is still scary and uncertain, because, at the end of the world, God will defeat Satan once and for all and finally be in a relationship with those that believe in Him, forever.
The entire Bible - every story from creation on, every poem, every letter, and every high and low that we read in the pages of history - comes down to this single moment that hasn’t happened yet, when the final epic battle between God and Sin is finally over. (Spoiler alert: God wins)
That is the hope we have! We read the Bible to hear from God and learn about how we should live as his followers, but we also read to understand why we can have hope for the future. God always wins!
Challenge: This week, we had a quick overview of the entire Bible and why it is essential to read and know. As you leave this week, don’t let your studying of the Bible stop! Commit today to continue to take time to read the Bible every single day- choose a book to start reading, another Bible reading plan, or a certain amount of verses you want to read each day. Keep hearing from God every day! A great place to start is in the book of John, where you can learn more about the life of Jesus.
