Summer Vibes | Draw Close to God

DAY 2 OF 4

How early did you wake up today? How early do you wake up when you don’t have to wake up early? Alarm clocks are the worst!

Most of us are morning scramblers! We get up with just enough time to brush our teeth and choke down a Pop-Tart as we rush off to school! And if we aren’t ‘that guy’ we are lazily scrolling TikTok because we have nowhere to really be – and we laze the day away.

For most of us, we have to be super-intentional to try to spend time with God the very first thing in our morning!

We see the example of Jesus modeling a lifestyle of prayer. If Jesus, who is the Son of God, found it necessary to lose sleep to spend time with God the Father, how much more important should it be for us to live this way?

Prayer can be tricky. We know how to talk to someone who is sitting right in front of us. But how do we talk to someone who we can’t see or audibly hear? And what if He talks back?? It can be weird.

Start by following this simple formula! (Screenshot it or write it down to remember it!)

1. Say thanks to God for the things in your life.

2. Be honest with God. Maybe confess something that’s on your heart you know you shouldn’t have done or thought.

3. Praise Him just for who He is.

4. Ask. Ask God for something you need.

The goal of prayer isn’t to get it exactly right or follow a pre-written formula. The goal of prayer is to spend time with Jesus, to draw near to God.

The more time we spend with Jesus, the closer our relationship with him will be.

Be like Jesus. Make prayer a priority!
