Is internal noise stealing your peace? 

Internal noise is the subconscious, unresolved issues and hurts crying out for solutions and resolutions. We were all designed by God to have clean hearts and minds at peace.

Is your mind at peace? Are you at peace with God, yourself and others?

The Bible says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7, NIV) 

My point today is that internal noise can be resolved if we spend a little time every day forgiving, confronting, journaling and praying through issues. Denial and repression are vicious enemies of personal peace. The Bible says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6, NIV) 

You can cherish your alone moments if you can resolve issues on a consistent basis. Paul says, “...Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,” (Ephesians 4:26, NIV). In other words, process your issues before the sun goes down.

I spent the first 21 years of my life stuffing the hurt and anger I felt towards my dad. I didn’t have the tools to process any of it. Eventually, it came out in violence in ice hockey, addictions and depression. I was a mess because of the internal noise in my soul. 

Through the Spirit, counseling, prayer, reading and discipleship, I started to get rid of the hurt and pain. I rejected the lies I had been telling myself. I forgave my dad, others and myself. I memorized Bible verses that affirmed me. God helped me in my alone times to quiet the lies and dwell in His love.

God will do the same for you. Please don’t spend your life listening to the internal interference. Shift your focus to “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8, NIV)
