90 Days to Wholeness: A Porn Addiction Recovery Devotional for WomenSample
It is important we make the distinction that just because his father celebrated his return, it did not absolve the son of his actions. He was still responsible and needed to make amends with his family. But his father’s love for him made a way when there seemed to be no way for reconciliation. This is something that would have been impossible if he had never found his way back home.
It is also important to make a distinction between direct and indirect amends. There may be circumstances where the amends you make are only in your heart. You must prayerfully consider these accounts and be discerning about with whom you make direct amends.
The story of the Prodigal Son is a parable. While it might not be a true story, it is a cautionary tale for us as believers about our role in relationship with God and with others. Making amends (whether directly or indirectly) isn’t easy, but it’s necessary for growth and healing.
List some ways you have avoided taking responsibility for your past behaviors and how doing so may have harmed others, directly or indirectly. Prayerfully consider the next right thing you ought to do.
